Signode: PN2-2 Push Type Tensioner

Uncategorized

pn2-2 tool allstrapThe PN2-2 is a push type tensioner for 2” steel banding. Even though many industries are switching over to plastic strapping, some small industries continue to rely on steel strapping for small loads. The PN2-2 is an improved version of the Signode PN2-114, though not much different. Industry users have not been very happy with this tool as they feel it only pulls about 1600 pounds of tension and that it may not be enough to pull metal rounds together.

The PN2-2 is a tensioner that pushes the nose of the tool against the seal and pulls it tight. This tool is good if the load being banded is not compressed. Another alternative to the PN2-2 is Signode’s WP-2, which pull 8000 pounds of tension and uses the windlass style. It is a very versatile tool for 2 inch strapping. It is a good tool to work on simple light duty loads. As it is not a combination tool, a separate sealer has to be used. A manual sealer can also be used, as this is a lightweight tool in terms of force.

Though lightweight tools like PN2-2 are useful, combination tools that are battery powered are the most preferred tools, as they are simple to operate, fast and efficient. Combination tools are three-in-one tools that take care of banding, sealing and cutting at the touch of a button. All these tools use the lithium ion battery, which is quick to charge and long lasting. However, all tools are prone to damage in the long run. Signode’s tools are durable and long lasting, but with constant use there will be normal wear and tear.

Every tool comes with a comprehensive safety and user manual, which mentions the need to maintain the tool. Regular cleaning and oiling of a tool can make it last longer.
