When to fix your own strapping tool

Uncategorized

Should you fix your own strapping tools, or call for help?  If you do it yourself, you save the labor.  If you send it in, your strapping tool will get fixed properly.  If you have decent mechanical ability  here is what we would suggest to fix yourself:

strapping parts help

  1. Feedwheel  -This is the part that wears the fastest on your strapping tool.
  2. Base plug  -Directly under the feedwheel, it comes out with a couple screws.
  3. Knife adjustments  -Most tools have adjustments for depth of the cutter.  The manual will show you have to increase the depth as the cutter blade wears.

Here is where you should get help:

  1. Motor problems  -It is worth the money to get strapping tool help with this major component.  The problem may not be with a motor, rather the power supply or the circuit board.  You don’t want to replace an expensive motor only to find there was another problem.  Get help from Allstrap for Fromm, Orgapack, Polychem, and Signode motor problems.
  2. Circuit board  -The controls in today’s strapping tools are complicated, and if your lucky, still under warranty.  Get help from a professional strapping repair facility.
  3. Gear problems  -Changing out a gear may not be hard, but there may be a deeper problem.  Gears fail when there is a problem upstream, have professionals tell you what that problem is.
